What is Kidzone magazine?“Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone” (Mark 16:15). Kidzone, The Salvation Army Australia’s national magazine for kids aged 5 to 14, exists for the purpose of introducing children to Jesus in a way that is fun, relevant and informative! Kidzone’s content is written with an eight-year-old in mind but has wide appeal across our audience. Kidzone connects with children by using pop culture, special days and events etc. in a way that is relevant, positive and educational. The magazine highlights children’s milestones and features TV shows, movies, sport, books and video game news plus exciting stories from the Bible, colouring competitions, Bible comics, craft, experiments, recipes, puzzles – sharing stories and experiences from a child’s world to form connections and make difficult concepts easier to understand. Each weekly theme is chosen to highlight either one or more of the four mission intentions – caring for people, creating faith pathways, building healthy communities and/or working for justice. Distributed across Australia through internal networks and into the community via subscriptions, Salvos Stores, kids’ clubs, promotional expos, shopping centres, schools etc. Kidzone has a growing distribution of 11,000+ and an estimated readership of 27,500 which makes Kidzone the largest weekly Christian children’s publication in Australia.

How can we use Kidzone magazine?Ministry tool: Run a Kidzone kids church or club. It’s super easy! The leaders’ guide provides an entire kids curriculum using Kidzone. It’s designed in a way that volunteers and ministry leaders can work through the program with ease. Grab your Kidzone magazines and download the leaders’ guide and you're all set! Congregation/welcome gift: When the magazines arrive, encourage people to take a copy or include in packs you may give to visitors, regular attendees and/or clients. Let people know it is a free resource you are providing. Point out specific articles that might be of particular interest to your people. Outreach: The magazines can be used as conversation starters and a great way to open doors towards a faith journey for kids and their parents. Label each copy you receive with your information, location etc. and place somewhere it will be seen or include a copy in information packs you may hand out. The label can then direct readers to your service for further information or another Army service or program. I'd love to hear from other readers ...“Thank you for the fabulous resources in your magazine. I have made use of them to engage the students in my year 3-5 class. I’m an op shopper at Salvos Stores and that is how I discovered your magazine. 2/3 of my class are indigenous and your inclusive approach was appreciated.” M. Jamieson M.Ed, BEd, DipT, Grad Cert. “Thank you so much for the fantastic edition of Kidzone about the Coronation! As a grandparent of 10 grandchildren and a Christian, I felt the whole magazine was one which glorified the King of Kings on Whom all Kings should be patterned. Much thought had gone into it, right down to the Craft activity of Donut Crowns! Keep up the excellent work and may God use your ministry to bring many people in to the Realm of His Eternal Kingdom. Blessings.” R Jones “Hi, my daughter was recently given a Kidzone magazine at our local Salvation Army store. She would love to learn more about the Bible so we have completed the section from the magazine (attached). Thanks.” M Bradford “Thank you for taking an interest in our Just Brass/ MSB concert from the weekend! We would count it a privilege for the photos to be shared in the magazine. Did you want to contact me on teams with any questions you might have? Probably easiest! Kind Regards.” Amy “Thank you so much to the Kidzone team. We use the lesson sheets and Kidzone activities at our kids club and we are finding it is a great success, easy to use, and relevant. Our team is grateful for the mag and the resource, as it assists our children’s ministry greatly. All of which is outreach based, last week we had children taking their Kidzone to school.” C Farrell (Mjr) “... mum and dads love them [Kidzone] and love sending them as gifts to support their families while they are in residential rehab. They can’t get enough of them. They like them for themselves and for their loved ones they are separated from during their recovery. Your mag is extending the reach of the ministry and supporting families beyond the church walls.” K Provan Social Mission Chaplain “Thanks very much for your help with this. Yes, my boy loves the magazine. We both have enjoyed reading it together and doing the puzzles. We live very close to a salvos store and my wife visits it weekly so we will definitely continue to read it! Keep up the great content with it.” Josh “I want to send all my best to your team. You carry out the mission of the Army in all your work. I was blessed to hear that you had won this [Australasian Religious Press] award and can I add many thanks for what you did for the NAIDOC edition. Well done and may God continue to bless you all abundantly.” S Hodges “Over 150 children were present and engaged in worship with us. Having been greeted at the door by Cousin Koala, lots of bubbles, and a team of the most wonderful children’s leaders, each child received a showbag that included activities relevant to the theme of the day. It really was an event for all generations.” Naty
